Vitamin B5

It is water-soluble and relatively thermolabile. It is essential for energy metabolism and the formation of acetylcholine, which is known to be involved in memory processes. It participates in acyl transfer reactions (citrate synthase, choline acetylase etc.).

Its RDA ranges from 4 to 7 mg/dl in children and adults. On its own, however, it does not improve brain function, as this vitamin is only effective in combination with many other nutrients.

It has no known side effects.

The most important natural sources are: whole grains, chicken meat, fish, liver, legumes, dried fruit.

The main plant drugs containing this vitamin are: oats, ginseng, wheat germ oil.
